Growth in celestial event-related camping, especially with the upcoming solar eclipse in 2024.
Expanding camping season and increased flexibility in work locations enabling more camping opportunities.
Increased interest in sustainable and eco-friendly camping solutions.
Weather and climate change impacting camping habits and booking patterns.
Need for improved infrastructure to support growing demands, especially for EVs.
Keeping up with the changing technology and maintaining the appeal to younger generations.
The main topics covered in this webinar included continued high demand for travel, both domestic and international. However, more people may opt for relaxation versus adventure trips in 2024. The solar eclipse in April 2024 is expected to drive significant domestic travel, especially camping trips. Planning fatigue from the last three years may lead to more spontaneous, unplanned vacations.
Surprise travel and mystery trips are gaining interest to counter overplanning and crowded destinations. Dispersed camping on public lands caters well to last-minute trips. A shift away from overcrowded national parks is likely, in favor of alternative destinations nearby. State parks and campgrounds close to home remain popular for accessible weekend getaways.Glamping will continue rising in popularity, as travelers seek amenities while camping. Campgrounds are adding cabins, tents, treehouses and other unique accommodations.
Younger generations like Gen Z will drive the growth of outdoor travel. They prioritize sustainability and expect tech amenities and easy booking. The COVID-driven camping boom exposed millions of new people to the outdoors. The mental health benefits will have a lasting impact, as people continue to seek nature for wellness.Other lasting COVID impacts are more remote work/travel, higher demand for WiFi at campsites, and the expansion of shoulder seasons with flexible schedules.
